Juan Miguel Olmo Martínez 9edff582c3 ceph: enable again the Rook orchestrator mgr test
Enable again the mgr test:
- Now is more reliable and robust the start of the test.
- Minor fixes to adapt the <service ls> to the new name of the crash daemon
deployed by rook

- The creation of OSDs is disabled in the orchestrator, so i have removed
this test until we will have the functionality ready again in the orchestrator
part

My plan is to provide in the orchestrator two different ways to create OSDs:
- Creation of OSD using specific devices if discovery daemon is running
- Creation of OSds using PVS (if we have LSO/other LS operator running)

ceph: proxy ceph command when multus is configured
2021-07-07 21:36:54 +02:00
Sébastien Han bd58790c31 ceph: proxy ceph commands when multus is configured
When the CephCluster is configured with Multus and multiple networks are
used to deploy Ceph some commands are failing to be executed from the
Operator. These commands, in particular, `radosgw-admin` ones need access
to the "ceph public network" to talk to OSDs. Unfortunately, the
Rook-Ceph Operator does not have the network annotations and thus
doesn't have the networks available and cannot reach OSDs. So the commands end
up hanging and eventually time out.
Applying the annotations to the Operator pod is possible but will result
in restarting the operator too and this should be avoided at all costs.
Also, applying the annotations beforehand is not possible since the
Multus declaration is in the CephCluster specification. So we would have
no idea what to do.

So the current approach runs a new sidecar container in the mgr pod to
act as a proxy for "some" ceph commands, only the `radosgw-admin` ones
for multi-site setup. This is a small container with admin access
running idle waiting for commands to be executed. In a sense, it is
similar to the toolbox but we didn't want to clearly expose it, so
running as a sidecar is quite nice.

Proxying command is obviously not always recommended since we add an
extra hop in the network path. Now each request has to go from the
operator pod to the API server to the remote pod to Ceph. Previously,
the command only goes from the operator to Ceph.

It's worth noting that external mode is not impacted since no rgw pod
is configured. This scenario is flexible and allows us to scale
pretty well since any CephCluster with Multus will see its mgr sidecar
deployed and can then talk to Ceph. We are not limited.

Travis Nielsen 7cec49b2d8 ceph: run helm tests without admission controller
The helm tests frequently hit an issue with the admission controller.
The admission controller is also enabled in other test suites, so
it seems safe enough to disable for the helm test suite.

Sébastien Han b578f916e7 ceph: add fs mirror config
Similarly to block volume replication, Ceph is capable of replicating the
content of a Ceph Filesystem from one cluster to another.
For this, during the 1.6 cycle, we introduced a new CRD called
CephFilesystemMirror which effectively deploys a cephfs-mirror daemon.
However, configuring peers to enable replication between two clusters
had to be done manually.
Also various bug fix made it in Ceph eventually and the minimum required
version for this to work is to run on Ceph Pacific 16.2.5 at least.

So the automatic configuration of Ceph Filesystem peers is now possible.

By editing the CephFilesystem CRD, you can now turn on mirroring:

```yaml
  mirroring:
    enabled: false
    # list of Kubernetes Secrets containing the peer token
    # for more details see: https://docs.ceph.com/en/latest/dev/cephfs-mirroring/#bootstrap-peers
    peers:
      secretNames:
        - secondary-cluster-peer
```

Also, the mirroring status is displayed in the CR status:

```
status:
  info:
    fsMirrorBootstrapPeerSecretName: fs-peer-token-myfs
  mirroringStatus:
    daemonsStatus:
    - daemon_id: 4186
  phase: Ready
  snapshotScheduleStatus:
    snapshotSchedules:
    - fs: myfs
      path: /
Yannis Zarkadas a004942f0b cassandra: fix integration test waiting logic
The integration test for Cassandra waited for Pods to become Running
before trying to connect to the Cassandra cluster. However, the check
should be that the cluster is Ready, not that the container state is Running.
If we only check for the Running state, we bump into a scenario where:
- The Cassandra container has started (thus is in Running state)
- The Cassandra server has not stated yet
and then tests will fail.
Blaine Gardner d78b2a41d6 ceph: work around radosgw-admin fifo file io error
Work around issue https://github.com/rook/rook/issues/7573
and make sure integration tests check for regressions.
Eventually we should use the RADOS Gateway admin REST API, but for now
we need to work around an issue where the built version of
'radosgw-admin' has incompatibilities with the RADOS Gateway version
running in the Ceph cluster.
Of note, Rook built on the Ceph Pacific image will not support
some 'radosgw-admin' commands to Ceph Nautilus (v14) or Octopus (v15)
clusters.
Further complicating matters, the flag used for the workaround changes
between Ceph v16.2.0 and v16.2.1 (both Pacific).
This bug needs to be treated a little differently than most of the ways
Rook handles different commands for different Ceph versions because this
is based on the Ceph version that is installed in the container with the
Rook operator primarily and not the version of Ceph running in the
cluster.
Sébastien Han 370f93eb08 ci: try to mitigate object user error
Sometimes the ci fails to find the object store user, this could be
because the user is created before the object store. So first it fails
since there is no object store and stay in a retry back-off.
Then the object store is created and always need a bit of time, at the
same time the object-user is still waiting and the next retry is longer.
Creating the object store first and then the user hopefully will help
resolve that so we don't have to increase the retry for the object-user
presence.
The error:
Travis Nielsen c23238cddb ceph: refactor integration tests for simplification
The integration tests have long been painful to maintain with
settings in various places and copied to multiple types,
inconsistent variable names, and otherwise difficult to maintain
code. Now the settings for a test suite are all in one place and
they remain in the same settings type throughout the test.
The multi-cluster suite is also refactored to use the same install
and uninstall helpers as the other suites.
Sébastien Han 31db03fece ceph: auto-gen crds
Finally! We can now stop editing manually our crds definition. Simply
run `make crds-gen`. These two files:
* `cluster/examples/kubernetes/ceph/crds.yaml`
* `cluster/charts/rook-ceph/templates/resources.yaml`
will be autogenerated for us.
We rely on the controller-gen tool, it reads our API definitions from
`pkg/apis/` and produces the CRD files accordingly.
It uses "markers" to add extra yaml fields to the CRD, for instance we
have a lot fields with:
```
nullable: true
x-kubernetes-preserve-unknown-fields: true
```
The corresponding API type markers are:
```
// +kubebuilder:pruning:PreserveUnknownFields
// +nullable
```
For more API convention see
https://github.com/kubernetes/community/blob/master/contributors/devel/sig-architecture/api-conventions.md#optional-vs-required
and for the markers see: https://book.kubebuilder.io/reference/markers/crd-validation.html
If there are multiple mgrs running, the operator will automatically
antiaffinity across the stretch failure domain (e.g. zones)
will be added. Required antiaffinity will be created unless the
Renan Campos ad9dcb0c05 ceph: periodically prune crash entries older than user-provided days
Rook's crashcollector pod posts entries to the ceph cluster when a crash occurs.
Over time the number cluster may hold crash entries needlessly.
To clean up old crash entries, this PR adds a field to the ceph cluster CR for the user to specify the number of days a crash entry should be kept for.
Providing a value for the field keepXDays creates a cronjob that runs every day at midnight, calling "ceph crash prune <keepXDays>".
Lalit Maganti c6aec79c4f ceph: add option to preserve filesystem on CRD deletion
Due to #6492, preservePoolsOnDelete is not useful at all for CephFS;
after the filesystem is deleted, the leftover pools cannot be
reassocaited with a newly created filesystem without wiping all
metadata. The only way we can actually preserve data is keeping around
the entire filesystem.
This commit implements a `preserveFilesystemOnDelete` option which work
similar to the existing pool preservation option but instead keeps the
whole CephFS while taking it down and removing all MDSes.
This commit also changes all documentation to refer to this new option
with the intent of essentially deprecating `preservePoolsOnDelete`. IMO,
keeping around `preservePoolsOnDelete` is actively harmful because it
lulls users into thinking their data will be safe but, in reality,
recovering from this situation is highly complex and has large potential
for data loss.
Everything looks fine before showing the above-mentioned error in FAIL cases.
