The volume replication CRDs are an external component, not owned by Rook.
Therefore, they should be installed as any other independent component
in case the admin will install other consumers of the volumereplication CRDs
in the future in addition to Rook and the CSI driver.

The flex driver has been fully deprecated and thus removed from Rook.
Before upgrading to v1.8, users will need to convert existing flex volumes
from flex to csi volumes.

Rook now exports both ceph and csi SCCs to run on openshift so any
program pulling rook can inject the right SCCs.
In the meantime, default SCC has been reinforced to be less permissive.
Documentation has been reworked and a new path for openshift
installations has been created. Rook still provides the YAML files for
manual installations.

This commit is a large refactor on how the operator starts, stops and
how it starts various sub-components such as the ceph-csi driver. It
also refines the way we cancel orchestrations. We don't use breakpoints
anymore but send our self a SIGUP to reload our controller runtime
manager.
The reload will happen under different circonstances like:
* a new adminission controller secret is created/deleted/changed
* a CephCluster CR is edited
As mentioned earlier, the csi driver now has its own controller, just
like flex. It reacts to change in the operator config map for particular
ROOK_CSI_ fields.
A second new controller for the operator's general config has been
created, it manages:
* the logging level
* the ceph CLI command timeout
* the discovery daemon
The operator reacts much more rapidly to cancellation events by stopping
the manager's context and reloading it.

Passing struct by value essentially gives you a copy, so when modified
within a function, the scope is then reduced to that function. Using
pointers solves that you mutate the struct as many times as you want from
anywhere.
As a result, the auto-detection of the Vault KV backend was not working
correctly.
Also, added a ton of unit tests for Vault.

The go-ceph library has removed the `Debug` field from the API type in
https://github.com/ceph/go-ceph/pull/543. Since the HTTP Client can be
mutated we now have our own client to dump requests and responses when
the operator log level is DEBUG.
Signed-off-by: Sébastien Han <seb@redhat.com>
Since the mock client was added to the rgw/admin package from the
go-ceph project in https://github.com/ceph/go-ceph/pull/532 we can now
mock the HTTP client and validate the entire reconcile.

When the CephCluster is configured with Multus and multiple networks are
used to deploy Ceph some commands are failing to be executed from the
Operator. These commands, in particular, `radosgw-admin` ones need access
to the "ceph public network" to talk to OSDs. Unfortunately, the
Rook-Ceph Operator does not have the network annotations and thus
doesn't have the networks available and cannot reach OSDs. So the commands end
up hanging and eventually time out.
Applying the annotations to the Operator pod is possible but will result
in restarting the operator too and this should be avoided at all costs.
Also, applying the annotations beforehand is not possible since the
Multus declaration is in the CephCluster specification. So we would have
no idea what to do.
So the current approach runs a new sidecar container in the mgr pod to
act as a proxy for "some" ceph commands, only the `radosgw-admin` ones
for multi-site setup. This is a small container with admin access
running idle waiting for commands to be executed. In a sense, it is
similar to the toolbox but we didn't want to clearly expose it, so
running as a sidecar is quite nice.
Proxying command is obviously not always recommended since we add an
extra hop in the network path. Now each request has to go from the
operator pod to the API server to the remote pod to Ceph. Previously,
the command only goes from the operator to Ceph.
It's worth noting that external mode is not impacted since no rgw pod
is configured. This scenario is flexible and allows us to scale
pretty well since any CephCluster with Multus will see its mgr sidecar
deployed and can then talk to Ceph. We are not limited.
Signed-off-by: Sébastien Han <seb@redhat.com>
We have been having many issues with external mode with Ceph version
mismatching. The operator would have a Ceph version different than the
external cluster. The `radosgw-admin` was used to interact with S3
users, even a small version delta would cause the command to coredump.
After checking with the rgw core team it appears Rook was misusing the
CLI and the admin ops API should be used instead.
So this patch is the first introduction of go-ceph in Rook to consume
the rgw admin ops API instead of the `radosgw-admin` CLI, **only** for
user management in this initial commit.
Later we can do more such as bucket operation, zone management etc.

Finally! We can now stop editing manually our crds definition. Simply
run `make crds-gen`. These two files:
* `cluster/examples/kubernetes/ceph/crds.yaml`
* `cluster/charts/rook-ceph/templates/resources.yaml`
will be autogenerated for us.
We rely on the controller-gen tool, it reads our API definitions from
`pkg/apis/` and produces the CRD files accordingly.
It uses "markers" to add extra yaml fields to the CRD, for instance we
have a lot fields with:
```
nullable: true
x-kubernetes-preserve-unknown-fields: true
```
The corresponding API type markers are:
```
// +kubebuilder:pruning:PreserveUnknownFields
// +nullable
```
For more API convention see

We can now prioritize orchestrations on certain event. Today only two
events will cancel on-going orchestrations (if any):
* request for cluster deletion
* request for cluster upgrade
If one of the two are caught by the watcher we will cancel the on-going
orchestration.
For that we implemented a simple approach based on check points, where
we will check for a cancellation request in certain part of the
orchestration. Mainly before each mons/mgr/osds orchestration loops.
This solution is not perfect, but we are waiting for the
controller-runtime to release its 0.7 version which will embed context
support. With that we will be able to cancel reconciles more precisely
and rapidly.

When the Ceph cluster runs on PVC and the OSDs are encrypted we can
store LUKS's Key Encryption Key inside a Key Management System. Today,
Rook only supports HashiCorp Vault: https://www.vaultproject.io/
The CephCluster has now a new "security" field which will plug onto the
KMS. Here is an example:
security:
kms:
tokenSecretName: <name of the secret containing a Vault token, used
to authenticate>
connectionDetails: < a map of strings containing connection
information>

You can now use Rook along with Multus. Multus must be up and running
and the right ressources must exist such as NetworkAttachmentDefinition
CR.
The Cluster CR spec has new fields to work with multus:
network:
provider: multus (or 'host' for hostNetworking)
selectors:
public: NetworkAttachmentDefinition name
cluster: NetworkAttachmentDefinition name
If only a single NetworkAttachmentDefinition is provided Rook will use
both anyway for the Ceph traffic.

The pools had some legacy structs that translated between the
ceph.v1 types used by the CRDs and the internal implementation
of the pools. This simplifies the pool implementation by removing
the intermediate model and leaving us only with the ceph v1
pool types and no unnecessary translation.
