O Padrão é "plugins" sob o SMARTY_DIR. Se vocêes especificar um

path relativo, Smarty irá primeiro procurar sob o SMARTY_DIR, então

relativo para o cwd (current working directory), então relativo para cada
|

entrada no seu PHP include path.
